What we say:
You will always be able to find dishes free of meat and fish at Indian restaurants, even Mamak shops (see Indian section) but the city also has a number of wholly vegetarian options too.
Saravana Bhavan, which has convenient outlets in Bangsar, Brickfields and Little India, turns out some of the city's best Indian food, all of it vegetarian. Top picks include the superb masala tosai (savoury pancake stuffed with a spicy potato and onion mix), aloo gobi masala (potato and cauliflower curry) and paneer butter masala (cubes of Indian cottage cheese in a rich tomato sauce).
Bangsar Village is a twenty minute walk (or five minute cab ride) from Bangsar LRT on the Kelana Jaya line.
Other branches include 196 Jalan Tun Sambanthan, (opposite to KL Sentral), Brickfields, T:(03) 2260 3755 and 1007 Selangor Mansion, Jalan Masjid India, Little India, T: (03) 2698 3293.
