Mapo Doufu Eating House
Lunch set bargains
What we say:
The name of this North Chinese restaurant is also its best dish — a sizzling plate of tofu and minced meat in chilli sauce.
Sichuan cuisine is known for its bold flavours and other dishes like hot and sour soup, fried green beans with chili, and hotpot (a do-it-yourself meal of meat and veggies cooked in broth) will have you reaching for the Tiger beer. The staff speak more Mandarin than English but will make an effort to help you navigate the menu. Most items are under S$15 and weekday lunch sets are a generous meal for S$7.
