Maxwell Road Food Centre
Chinese cuisine reigns supreme
What we say:
Chinese cuisine reigns supreme at this hectic hawker centre between the business district and Chinatown.
Many people say that Singapore's best chicken rice — practically the national dish — comes from Tian Tian Chicken Rice stall and it'll only set you back $3. Other popular dishes include oyster omelettes, congee (rice porridge), fish ball noodles, char siew barbecue pork, dim sum, fried bananas, and a few international offerings like Thai curries and Japanese food.
For a guaranteed great meal look for the stalls with the longest queue and join the line — it'll definitely be worth the wait. Come at lunch for the biggest selection.
