Blue Ginger
Sample Peranakan cuisine
What we say:
Singapore is one of the few places to sample Peranakan cuisine — a fusion of Malay and Chinese ingredients and techniques — and Blue Ginger is an elegant but affordable place to do so.
Extensive descriptions on the menu make ordering traditional dishes like udang ketak (crayfish in pineapple gravy) and sambal terong goreng (spicy fried eggplant) less intimidating and the staff are glad to make recommendations — trust them when they say you should try the namesake blue ginger chicken. Be sure to save room for dessert — chendol (ice, jelly, beans and coconut milk) tastes better than it looks.
