Dempsey Hill
Escape the city to this lush park
What we say:
Escape the city at this lush park filled with fine-dining restaurants, cafes, antique shops and gourmet grocers.
Many of the restaurants are quite expensive and attract a ladies-who-lunch type crowd, but there are a few exceptions like the Thai-German Tawandang Microbrewery and The Wine Company where you can buy a bottle for a few dollars more than retail price and partake at a table in their garden.
The restaurants are very spread out and definitely intended for people who have cars, but Dempsey Hill is only a few bus stops past the Botanic Gardens.
