Tom Yum Kung Fu

Thai classics on a budget in the Quays

Photo of Tom Yum Kung Fu

What we say: 3.5 stars

This hole-in-the-wall restaurant amid the bars on Circular Road does many of the standard Thai classics.

Expect fried rice, spicy soups and phad Thai plus some not-so-Thai dishes like steamboat — a do-it-yourself meal of meat and veggies cooked in soup broth. The tom yum goong contains a generous portion of seafood but, despite the restaurant's name, doesn't have much kick — ask for it extra spicy. The simple setting is compensated for by the smiling service. Prices are reasonable for the expensive Quays but the best deal is the weekday set lunches for under S$10.
