Above Eleven

Reasonably priced rooftop bar

No pic at the moment -- Sorry!

What we say: 3.5 stars

Above Eleven on lively Sukhumvit 11 (get it?) offers spectacular views and a cool atmosphere but with more down-to-earth prices.

Perched on the 32nd floor, the views of Bangkok's neon lights and skyscrapers as far as the eye can see are spectacular from either of Above Eleven's two open-air levels. Decor is contemporary and slick, and the bar draws a loyal following of well dressed expats and hi-so twenty and thirty something Thais. A DJ sets the mood with chilled out house and downtempo beats on most nights. Settle into a couch, table or bar stool, but reserve in advance if you want the best seats in the house -- perched up against the glass along the edges.

Above Eleven offers quality cocktails priced from a reasonable 300 baht while a bottle of wine will set you back from around 1,000 baht a bottle or 170 baht a glass. An interesting Japanese/Peruvian menu offers fresh and tasty small plates for nibbling, with appetisers starting around 250 baht.

While certainly not cheap, Above Eleven is swish enough to impress your date but not so pricey that you'll have to eat cup noodle for the rest of the week.
