Lakeside bar scene

Bars, bars and more bars

What we say: 4 stars

Once the sun goes down and the grilled fish restaurants put out their coals, the Chai Kwan Road bar scene sparks to life.

All along this stretch of road and some of its smaller tributaries are bars and cafes that stay open well into the night, always quite crowded with locals and the nearby university crowd.

You can go for a relaxed drink, catch a football match, or dance the night away in any number of attractive, well serviced establishments. When it comes to a more relaxed, social atmosphere, White Bar on the corner of Chai Kwan and Tha Kwan is a great place to start. With live music, a projector screen showing the evening's game, and plenty of tables, this bar is always full to capacity on the weekends.

Just around the corner is White Bar's rowdy neighbour, BM Pub; “BM” stands for Bat-Man, and the club is well known in town and even around northern Thailand. Its reputation as a great place to dance and hear live music is well earned, and if you're looking for that type of atmosphere, BM is for you!
