What we say: 3.5 stars

This real French bakery, with baguettes, quiches, sacher tortes, apples slices and chocolate-filled croissants, is a popular hangout for European expats on the island.

The French Bakery, easily recognised by its French flag and white cafe-style chairs outside, has branches along the ring road in Chaweng and Lamai. Bread and pastries are baked fresh daily, and a steady flow of patrons pop in for their fix of excellent coffee, or a quick baguette takeaway.

A selection of cheeses and cold cuts are on offer as sandwich fillings, or try a scrambled egg and bacon breakfast baguette.
