Ko Pha Ngan is so big, we've split it up into areas, select one of the below for detailed accommodation and food listings in that area. Sights and general overviews for Ko Pha Ngan as a whole can be found via the icons above. Don't know where to start? Read an overview of Ko Pha Ngan's different areas.
Ao Chaophao’s Art Cafe doesn’t look like much from the outside. But this charming little Ko Pha Ngan coffee shop, restaurant and lounge is testament to the old adage that you can’t judge a book by its cover.
If you’re staying in Ao Chaphao, or passing through, Art Cafe makes a rejuvenating spot to spend a few hours. Upon entering the wooden structure, visitors are reminded to remove their shoes before walking up a set of stairs to the cafe’s main area.
Choose from floor or sofa seating; the sofa is really just a wooden contraption with a few cushions, and it could be more comfortable, but it does the trick. There are various nooks and crannies where those who wish to have some privacy can take refuge as well.
A fantastic selection of teas is available here, from Nepalese afternoon tea, organically grown at the base of Mount Everest, to a green tea named Temple of Heaven Gun Powder, to a herbal offering called the Chaucer Cup. One cup of any tea costs 50 baht, while a pot is 90 baht. For caffeine lovers, an espresso machine knocks out great cups of Joe.
The menu features vegan-friendly dishes that non-vegans will love too. The three-bowl burrito is a crowd favourite, prepared with sweet potato and cheese (150 baht), while the Mediterranean couscous is an ideal light, healthy snack (150 baht).
A huge selection of books lines the cafe walls, mostly focused on meditation, yoga and a bit of travel. Books are only meant for reading in the Art cafe but the cafe does a cool deal where they will give patrons a free cup of tea or coffee if they bring in a book that fits their collection.
Towards the entrance are all kinds of health supplements for sale, including probiotics, cold-press virgin coconut oil, mojo booster, and more. The cafe also sells local handicrafts.
Find Art Cafe on the main beach road, on the right hand side if you are heading to the north of the island. It is towards the north end of Ao Chaophao beach, just opposite Benjamin Hut.
