Banh Cuon Pho Ly
Simple but moreish
What we say:
Banh cuon are rice flour rolls usually stuffed with ground pork, prawns and mushroom. The pho ly version served at this eatery, on an oft missed alley between Ma May and Luong Ngoc Quyen, differs from that, in that it is simply wide strips of flat noodle topped with slices of grilled pork and sprinkled with dried onion. Scoop it up and dip it in the sauce -- nicely presented in a jug for you to pour into the bowl as your heart desires -- and accompany with fresh greens, served in the obligatory plastic basket.
