French fusion easy on the wallet
What we say:
A relatively new arrival from award-winning Hanoi chef, Didie Corlou, DC Bistro offers fantastic food in a more casual and less expensive setting than nearby La Verticale, also a Corlou creation.
The restaurant occupies an old two-storey building that features a wine shop downstairs and a cosy 20-seat dining room upstairs with solid, dark wood tables and French doors opening onto a lovely balcony. A set lunch menu offers excellent value for 138,000 VND, which bags you three courses and complimentary bread and butter. Choices often change but we enjoyed excellent pate and rillette and beef carpaccio starters along with pork cordon bleu and tender steak frites served on a wooden slab with chunky chips. The evening set menu available from 18:00 to 22:00 is a bit pricier at 250,000 VND but is still solid value for what you get. All dishes may be ordered a la carte at lunch and dinner, but this will make for a higher bill. DC Bistro is located in Hai Ba Trung district, on Ngo Van So, which runs off Ba Trieu Street. It's an easy walk from sights like Hoa Lo Prison and the Women’s Museum.
