Hi

My girlfriend and i are travelling across SE Asia and want to learn to dive somewhere on our route. We will be travelling across the whole of Thailand and Cambodia and the East coast of Malaysia. We really want to fit diving into our trip but are concerned about costs firstly and safety secondly.

Our budget will restrict where and what we can afford to choose to do surrounding diving, but we are concerned that comprising in price can lead to our instruction being unsafe.

Please could you feedback the cheapest places to learn to dive in Cambodia,Thailand and Malaysia, plus safety information surrounding diving there.

thank you all in advance!!! All help with this will be very apprecaited!!!! cheers

Hello fellow travellers. I have been looking around this website for a while now and it's fantastic. Will be really helpful when I am going to SEA soon! Thanks!

Anywho, I will be in Thailand in April, and was wondering where you suggest the best place to dive would be.. is it still good diving on Koh Tao around that time or should I venture to the west coast? I have my open water cert already so I will just be doing fun dives.
Are the whalesharks still around Koh Tao around April or is March better for that? I was planning on going to Malaysia in March but if the diving is better then I'll stick around for that first.

Thanks :)

I'm planning on doing my Dive Masters certification in Thailand in February. I have lots of time to complete the certification and am liking the idea of prolonging the internship because the lifestyle sounds like something i could get used to. I've looked into a few different companies on different islands: koh tao, koh samui, koh phi phi and in the similan islands. some internships last 2 months, others 5 or 6 and the prices seem to vary. seems like some places have you more as a student for the duration of the program and others have you helping more with work so it's a bit cheaper. I already have my Open Water Certification and I don't want to be spending the whole time in a really touristy place where the diving is overrated. (I ...

Good Price For Scuba Diving In Koh Lanta???

My partner and I will be arriving in Thailand on the 4th November & will be heading down to Koh Lanta for a weeks break in the sun before we go off backpacking! we have decided we would like to do our open water diving course. After doing some research the prices all seem to be pretty similar however I wanted to check to make sure im not being ripped off (better safe then sorry)

Blue Planet Divers on Koh Lanta are quoting me 13900 for 1 x open water course so the two courses plus 5 nights in air con room for 33480, is this the normal rate for doing the open water? The room is about £100 for 5 nights but it is a nice hotel.

Thanks for the help!!!

Hello forum,

Finally Bangkok! I've been here for a week now and i absolutely love it!

I'm leaving for Surat Thani/Krabi early next week and was thinking that it might be a good idea to find things like goggles and snorkel here first.

Does anyone know where to look for stuff like that? Or, would it even be easier to find once in ST/Krabi perhaps?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Hi!

Looking for some advice on dive spots in Vietnam in October. Where would you go? And why?

Right now torn between Phu Quoc and the Cham island. Also was considering Nha Trang, but the overall scenery is in my opinion inferior to the first two, as we are also looking for some chill time in a hammock under a palm tree between or after dives, then would prefer something less built up and more natural. Location wise would prefer Cham, as we are going to Hoi An anyways, we are short on time and going to PQ would take quite a bit, if we don't wanna fly. But diving wise, which would you recommend Cham or PQ? Where are your best experiences from? Any tips and ideas are welcome!

Now the problem is with the time of year, as i ...

We are planning a diving trip in Ko Tao first week of November. I know this is coming at the wet season, but I have read mixed things online about how badly Ko Tao is affected. Anyone have any advice about weather on Ko Tao during early November? Also, how bad could it get? Should I be worried about flight delays and such?

Thanks!

Can anyone suggest good dive spots in December, we will be in Vietnam and Cambodia from 11 Dec to 11 Jan. We would like to take a couple of days off at a spot that we can go diving from. We were going to do it off hoi an but I believe the weather there isn't great that time of the year.

We have one experienced diver, one qualified but inexperienced diver, and one person happy to come along on a boat trip and jump in with a snorkle.

Learning To Dive Koh Tao

Hi all

I'm toying with the idea of learning to dive in Koh Tao (so do the PADI Open Water course) when we're there next year.

I've through this forum and others but can't seem to find any recent definitive advice.

Has anyone had any experience with:
* Simple Life Koh Tao Diving / Koh Tao Wind Resort (BHT9,800 pp)
* Davy Jones' Locker / Silver Sands Hotel & Beach Resort (BHT9,800 pp)
* Planet Scuba (THB9,270 pp)

I think I'm leaning towards the Davy Jones' Locker/Silver Sands or the Simple Life option. These two include four nights accommodation (DJL in bungalow, SL in a fan room) - Planet Scuba only includes three nights in a fan room. We're going to be towards the end of our trip so having accommodation included is a big ...
