Singapore Onward Travel Proof

I'll be entering Singapore in June from Australia on Jetstar. I understand that there is an official requirement for people entering Singapore to have proof of an onward journey as is the case with many countries. However, I also understand that immigration officials in Singapore don't check for proof of onward travel. My question is, do Jetstar in Australia check for proof of onward travel?

I called Jetstar and they told me there is no requirement at checkin to prove that you have onward travel booked, but I'm skeptical. I was just going to book a cheap air asia ticket out of Singapore, but with all the airport taxes, it comes out at over $60 and I'd rather just know what the real situation is!

Does anyone have experience with this?

I have heard a lot about Singapore being so expensive from folks and I am always stunned by that. As a Tokyo/New York dweller who just returned from Miami and L.A. I find Singapore quite affordable once you work out accommodation. Many people on their SEAsia trips may think it is expensive after Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia etc. But if you plan accordingly, and you are from the above mentioned cities or any big city in Europe of the States I don't see the problem. Coming from Tokyo to Singapore a couple of years back I found it not only affordable in comparison, but the absolute best Asian food I have ever had was there. The quality of the Thai and Malaysian and other regional foods was even better than some in those countries. There ...

Hello all, I'd like to get some help.

We're to get away for a week in Singapore and there's 4 of us. We've got 180SGD if we put our money together, that's why I thought of the 1 room thing. Anyone got any suggestions?

Extra info: We want an airconditioned room with WiFi. Obviously not too far from the bus and other means of transportation that is NOT a cab.

Hi folks,

Myself and my girlfriend are heading to singapore to a mates wedding in june as part of a 6 month trip to asia.
The wedding is at the very beginning of our trip, and the fact that singapore is meant to be very expensive is kinda worrying for our budget.

Can anyone recommend any cheap backpacker accommodation in Singapore?

The wedding is in the Conrad Centennial hotel.

Obvioulsy we will have extra money to spend for the 2 days we are going to be in Singapore but we don't want to spend alot on accommodation as its only a bed at the end of the night.

Thanks for any help you can give

Hi
can anyone help me with the name of a good dentist in Singapore!

I haven't got an emergency problem I hope - but after nearly a year travelling I really do need a good clean and scrape and would like to get it done before i'm off the beaten track again. Doesn't need to be too cheap - normal UK prices?

anyway if any locals have a good recommendation that would be great

thanks

Hi All,

My girlfriend and I will be travelling to south east asia and will be stopping off in singapore for 3 nights, we want to stay near to orchard road as we believe this is closer to the restuarant, nightlife etc. Can anyone recommend a budget hotel that is not a hostel around £50 a night. I have seen a few but it difficult to judge the quality and was wondering if anyone had a good experience.

I'm thinking about YWCA Fort Canning Lodge

I'm stopping over in Singapore 30 Dec 2010 and leaving on a 6am flight 1 Jan 2011.

I'm planning to stay in the City e.g. Little India, and had overestimated the efficency of the MRT I assumed that trains to the airport would start running early enough to catch a 6am flight.

I know that trying to get a taxi on NYE in Australia is really difficult as it is a big celebration.
How busy is NYE in Singapore?

I can see some mentions of an airport shuttle bus on Changi Airport site but no details about whether its 24 hrs?
