4 Country Itinerary - Zigzag Or Loop?

Hi all,

Firstly, Somtam, (and other posters) thanks for the great site you've got going, I have found so much information here on Travelfish!

Now, question. We are on a 9 week trip around Thailand/Laos/Vietnam and Cambodia beginning March 8th in Bangkok.

The zigzag/ N route in the trip section looks like it definitely covers most of the places we want to go, plus a few more. I have 3 main questions regarding the route though:

1.	What are the general thoughts on this zigzag route compared to a roughly circular loop (meaning that southern Laos is skipped. The trip reports/forum discussion on the Nam Can /Nam Khan border make it seem doable enough).
2.	Given the time of year, would it be best to
a.	start in bangkok and head ...

Print Your Guiding Fish - Some Tips

A hint on converting your Travelfish guide into analogue:

The idea is to get a printout which you can bind, resulting in a handy A5-sized booklet.

This works great for the free eFish:

1. Generate the eFish with Large font and Portrait 2 Columns
2. Convert the pdf online with BookletCreator
3. Print the resulting pdf double-sided
4. Stack the papers correctly, and fold/cut them in the middle.
5. Add heavier paper as cover, and let a shop bind the booklet (or do it yourself with string, gaffer or what else)

If your printer does not support double-sided printing, you have to print odd pages first, put the printed pages back into the feeder, and print the straight pages. To find out how you have to flip/turn the pages to ...

New Travelfish Guide Packs For Cambodia

I've just added two versions of what used to be the Cambodia pack in the Travelfish Guide store.

The first is the Cambodia Highlights Pack which contains just the guides for Phnom Penh and Siem Riep and costs $7.95. You can read more about it here.

The second is the Cambodia Combination Pack which includes all of our Guides for Cambodia, namely: Phnom Penh, Siem reap, Sihanoukville, Kampot & Kep and Northeast Cambodia and costs $15.95. You can read more about it here.

We've split them up this was as we realise that a lot of visitors to Cambodia don't see more than Phnom Penh and Siem Reap so we thought a cutdown "pack" would better serve your needs.

Both packs are discounted -- at around 30% off, so if you're looking at ...

Hi Stuart,

You provide such a great service with the travel guides that I almost feel bad making any suggestions for improvements.

However.. I won't let it stop me! ;-)

In the Members Centre area where I can see a list of eGuides that I have generated - is there any possible to:

show the Country and the Region name?
sort the list by Country, Region?
include the file name (or Country/Region in the generated PDF?
:
(Or is there some other logic to how they appear in the list? To me, it looks like a random generator has been at work!)

I sometimes really struggle to figure out which guide covers what area!

Also, on the webpages that cover off specific areas, it would be great it there was some reference to which ...

New Travelfish Guide: Northeast Cambodia

I've just added a new Travelfish Guide to the shop -- this one for Northeast Cambodia.

This is a new title and brings together all our research for Kompong Cham, Kratie, Stung Treng, Rattanakiri and Mondulkiri. There's also detailed info on crossing the borders to Laos and Vietnam, a bunch of stories and the usual maps, listings etc.

At US$4.95, we're charging less than a dollar a province -- how's that for value!

It's 20 pages long and covers just about everything I can think of that you'd need to get the most out of the region.

You can read all about the guide (and buy it) here: http://www.travelfish.org/ebooks/cambodia/eguide-northeast-cambodia-2009

This title will be rolled into the Cambodia pack, but not till the end ...

Due to problems at PayPal on 20 August, the notifications that are sent to us when Travelfish Guides are purchased are being delayed.

At the moment there seems to be a delay of a couple of hours. PayPal are aware of the problem and are working to sort it out.

Note this doesn't mean your order is lost, rather it has just been delayed. When the notification eventually comes in from PayPal to us, the guides are credited to your account automatically.

Apologies for the inconvenience, and I'll make a note again in this thread when the situation comes back to normal.
