Combination Padlocks - Any Difference Between The Expensive And Cheap Ones?

I've seen some combination padlocks at specialised travel stores. Looks pro and belongs to some well known western brand.

Then I saw some at the budget store. About one US dollar each. Japanese brand.

Should I buy the less costly ones? What's your average spending on combination padlocks?

Thanks.

About to embark on my first long trek. Just looking for some suggestions on some headphones. Sound quality is important for when i need to get lost in my head. Also minimal noise leakage. Look and comfort really aren't important. I prefer over the ear headphones over ear buds. Cheers.

Hi,

I have a dilemma going on. I can't seem to choose between the Gregory Deva 60 or the Osprey Ariel 65 backpack.

Does anyone know which one is a better buy?
I'll be travelling for 7 weeks in Asia and then for 3 months in Central and South America.

Do you think 60 litres or 65 litres is a good size for a backpack?

thanx

Hi

My girlfriend lost her camera in Bangkok and we're wondering where you can buy a good quality camera in SE Asia for a decent price. Not looking for a SLR camera or anything, just a normal digital camera. We've had a look in Laos and Vietnam but they're surprisingly expensive. Any ideas?

Thanks

Keeping Your Bags Close To You

I have not seen this question begin addressed to directly so really hope to get some answers.

I plan to travel with only a carry-on backpack for my trip in Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand.

When travelling on bus or boats, am I allowed to keep my backpack with me or do I have to surrender it for storage (on the top of the bus, baggage compartment, backpacks corners on the boats, etc).

I will not leave any valuables in the backpack. They will either be stuff somewhere in my clothes or in a small crossbody bag. My backpack will only contain clothes, etc. But still I would feel better if my backpack can stay with me at all times while travelling.

Appreciate answers/advices.

I am looking for some sandals for 8-12 month trip through SEA later this year.

I am wondering if anybody knows of any brands that make good non-leather sandals and if there are any preferable materials or materials that I should avoid for comfort/climate reasons. They will be for everyday wear and light trekking.

Thanks a lot!

Hi there,

So I'm heading out on my first long term travel adventure this November, still a while yet, but can't wait.

From reading the various posts regarding travelling with just a carry on, I'm still undecided. I really want reports from people who have done this. I understand size limitations vary, but curious to know how many people have had their hand luggage weighed and if so whether problems have been encountered.

I'm starting in India and taking it from there, on my list of possible destinations are Vietnam, Loas, Cambodia, Burma, Indonesia and the Philippines. in terms of time, I guess until my money runs out, but realistically 6-9months

Ideally I would like to take the largest capacity backpack that will pass as ...

Just in the planning stages for my 3 week trip to Laos via Thailand. I went travelling for the first time around Thailand last year for 2 weeks and loved it. Really excited!
Just bought myself a Deuter 38 Litre for my up and coming trip. This was £80 and seems really high quality.
Has anyone got one of these? Any reports?

Hi,

Does anyone think getting a travel sleeping sheet with EX3 (anti bed bugs, anti mossie and anti bacterial) is worth it?

I've only seen one's for about £35 minimum so far. Has anyone used one or would a normal one which hasn't been treated be fine?

Will generally be staying in backpacker places.

Thanks,

Hi there,

Anyone think this bag is any good for a 3-4 month SE Asia trip?

http://www.blacks.co.uk/product/103421.html

Will be roughing it up in the jungle for a bit but mostly sticking to the beaten path... Staying in mostly flashpackers places. But on the move frequently.

It's stretching the budget as it is so a Berghaus is out of the question!

Thanks

Laos - Sandals/boots For Trekking

Hi,

I know this subject comes up quite a bit but I just wanted to make sure that I could get advice specific to the area and time of year I'm travelling so apologies for any repetition.

I'm going to be in Northern Laos for a month from the end of Feb and am planning on doing a fair bit of trekking while I'm there, including the Gibbon experience. I just have no idea what to wear on my feet - should I take boots? Also, do I need to worry about leeches at this time of year?

Thanks!
