I'm looking online and I'm just not getting any worthwhile results for purchasing in the UK. I am just getting lots of online sites offering me budget drugs. Any one bought any recently on the high street?

My GP surgery can sell them to me but I want to compare prices.

I was also looking into buying in Bangkok but not sure. Might prefer to have some before I go.

Crossing Borders With Diazepam / Valium In SE Asia

Hi

First time poster... To help with the long and often uncomfortable travel around SE Asia (but hey it gives you good stories to tell) I intend to take some diazepam (aka valium) with me and probably pick up some more in Bangkok. I'm a tall lad so sleeping on coaches is often very difficult, if not impossible for me.

What are the rules with border crossings / airports with 'medicines' like this? I'm assuming it's legal to transport over borders (I'm doing Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam). Should they be in original packaging (not possible if I buy in Bangkok), would I need a prescription, is there a limit to how many I can take, is putting them in a vitamin bottle sensible/stupid etc? Any tips, advice, warnings, greatly ...

I really need some unbiased vaccine advice please..
Im from the UK and am about to go travelling from this July for a year (or more) on my own to SE ASIA.
I dislike the idea of putting chemicals into my body that are not really needed.
Surely I can build up my immune system naturally with things like echinacea and spirulina.

My very loose plan is: Thailand 3 months, Laos 1 mth, Camboidia 1 mth, Vietnam 1 mth, and possibly some other surrounding countries, and then India 6 months.
but really I am totally flexible, I will just turn up in Thailand and see where my nose takes me, as Im sure I will meet other travellers and go-with-the-flow. I willl stay at Guest houses, hostels, low-mid budget.

Im 35, healthy, will want to see all the ...

going to be all over South East Asia this summer,

should i get the Rabies Jabs? i here it only gives you an extra 24 hours to get to a hospital if you are bitten etc...

the cost of the injection isn't really an issue for me.... but to be honest i really really really hate getting injections and the rabies one is a course of three!!
so as long as i'm carful (no patting street dogs/ no playing with monkeys) do i really need it?

Thanks

WHO Snake Farm

Many people forget some shots before they go. If you are going to be travelling in SE Asia for a while it is good to know you can get shots here. The snake farm in Bangkok was a World Health Organization affiliated place at one time. (Still is?) I got shots there at a fraction of the cost of my home country. Hep/typhoid/tetanus booster/rabies/cholera...they can sort you proper if you skipped something and want to feel better about it.
Just sharing the info!

It looks innocuous enough, a bit like a big soldier ant. However you'll know it isn't harmless if you slap at it like a mosquito, accidentally crush one in your sleep, or get hit in the face by one while you're driving a motorbike.

http://docfiles.blogspot.com/2007/06/paederousrove-beetle-dermatitis.html

I just thought I'd post a heads up about this thing in case anyone else is blissfully unaware that these insects "contain the most poisonous animal contact toxin in the world".

I don't even remember squashing one of these things but right now I have a patch of what looks like bubonic plague on my inner elbow. It's quite painful too, like a bad burn ...or twelve (very small) cobra bites.

Health And Welfare When Travelling In Vietnam

There are fewproblems with mosquitoes in the towns and cities of Vietnam, so there is no need tobring large quantities of repellent. However, a couple of tubes would beadvisable, particularly if your itinerary involves trekking or travel inforested areas.

Insect repellentsare available locally, but almost always based upon ‘deet’ or similar chemicalpreparations, which can cause rashes and allergic reactions in hot, humidconditions. I advise those based on natural ingredients, but there is littleavailability of non-allergic varieties within Vietnam. I find that the local‘tiger balm’ is reasonably effective, and also good at suppressing the itchingafter being bitten. It costs next to nothing and is freely available.

Oh Dear..too Late To Vaccinate?

Myself and my girlfriend are going to Vietnam in less than 3 weeks, and pretty stupidly, we left thinking about immunisations until the new year, totally forgetting that you're supposed to get them quite a way in advance.

Myself, I'm not so worried about, all I think I need is a Hep A booster, the other essentials (Typhoid, Tetunus, Diphtheria) are still valid for me from when I went away in 2009. But I don't think my girlfriend has any of that

We've both booked an appointment at the travel clinic this week anyway, but is it too late? Will they refuse to immunise us now, or is it just less likely to be effective? And are we pretty screwed?

Hi,
I am currently in Thailand and am having great difficulty in getting my prescribed Fentanyl Patches. I have been to a hospital and they have to get a license to stock which they tell me could take months to get.
I brought 3 months supply with me but wish to stay longer. Can anyone advise where I can buy Fentanyl or even morphine sulphate without a lot of problem within Asia.Tramadol is not an option.

I am happy to go and see a doctor/ hospital for a prescription and have paperwork from home to prove medication.

At the moment the only alternative I can see is to fly back to UK and get another 3 months supply but that would be a hassle.

I don't mind hopping on a plane if anyone can advise where I won't have a problem obtaining.
