Hi I arrive in Bangkok on 22 Feb, was planning to leave on 25 for Kanachanaburi. Original plan was to then go up north but having seen pictures of the smoke and haze there last Feb I am now planning to go to Vietnam. I have no embassy near me here so was wondering how quickly a visa can be turned round in Bangkok? Also, a) will I be ok leaving my passport there and leaving Bangkok(will hotels in Kanachanaburi need a passport?) and b) I understand the Tet holiday runs to 19 Feb so presumably there will be more of a backlog than normal. I haven't yet booked a flight to Hanoi and I am reluctant to do so until I know about a visa. I have looked at online sites for the pre approval letter which seems really expensive plus they say they are ...

Hello
I'm in Chiang Mai and I've seen a few places on the internet and in tour offices here offering to book a bus to the boarder, accommodation on the Thai side and then a 2 day slow boat down to Luang Prabang (where I'd have to book my own accommodation in Pak Beng).

Anyone done this? Any advice as to a good company to book it with? Any warnings? Any advice really, would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Hi there,

planning a trip with a mate in December 2013 to SE Asia for 3-4 months.

The plan, is to start in Bangkok, go into Laos, then to Camodia, then into Vietnam, spend roughly a month in each place. But we are having a major confusion about visa's... how does one go about about sorting visa's out? Like do we have to buy visa's whilst we are out there, or can we get it all done in the UK? sorry for the noob question : )

thankyou!

To Visa Or Not To Visa, What To Do If Going From Mainland China Into Hong Kong.

Maybe someone can answer this one:

I am travelling through China.

And I am using the last entry of my visa (I applied and got 2, but I went out to southeast asia countries, and then got back into China again).

My flight home leaves from Beijing.

I want to go to Hong Kong (I don't need a visa for HK).

When in HK,

do I need to apply for a new visa for China to go back to Beijing, or my visa is still valid?

Have I "burned out" my last entrance when I got into HK, or I am "still in China itself" somehow?

This thing of HK has me puzzled...

Thanks if anyone know the ansewer.

Fabian.

I am going to be entering Thailand on 9/9/2013 and will leave on 25/11/2013, 77 days. I was intending to do border runs both as a requirement but also because they are part of travelling I have not done before. I know that I can only get another 15 days if I arrive by land. Is there a limit on how many times can I do these runs to extend my stay? I come from Australia so I will get 30 days at first.

I'm going to South East Asia for 3 months next week - flying in and out of Bangkok - but will be in Thailand for less than 30 days so I haven't applied for the tourist visa, thinking the visa on arrival will be ok. But will I have problems when I arrive in Thailand as my flight back is in 3 months from my arrival day and no proof that I'm actually travelling on and won't be in Thailand for the 3 months?!
I hold a British passport.
Any help - much appreciated!

Hi All,

I've tried reading through numerous threads regarding this but it's all a bit confusing/conflicting plus a lot of them are for shorter trips. I have seen all visa sticky's too, just want reassurance I suppose...

This is what my itinerary is looking like so far (I'm going to do about 5 and a half months):

-Flying in to Bangkok from London on a UK passport & plan to travel 2 months in Thailand (so I will get a 60 day visa from Thai Embassy in London)

-Then on to Malaysia overland, crossing from Koh Lipe on to Palau Langkawi. Am I correct in assuming you get a free 90 day visa on arrival?

-From here I'll be travelling to Singapore, probably spending 2/3 weeks in Malaysia and a day or 2 in Singapore (Is Singapore counted as ...

Vietnam Visa FAQ

The Tourist Visa for Vietnam must be issued before arrival and there are three typical visas aimed at tourists. A month-long single entry visa, a month-long multiple entry visa and a three-month single entry visa. Depending on the consulate or embassy that issues it, on very infrequent occasions the visa may begin to expire from the day it is issued.

If you're not located anywhere near a Vietnamese embassy or consulate, Vietnamese visas can also be arranged online where you pay a travel agent an additional fee (generally around the $20-30 mark) and you're able to process your visa on arrival at Saigon, Da Nang or Hanoi's international airports. This is not possible for land crossings.

The cost of a Vietnamese visa varies ...

Thailand has a multitude of visa options and requirements -- you're best off going to the horse's mouth at the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the full spiel.

For most regular tourists, you have two primary options: You can get a Tourist-visa in advance at a Thai embassy or consulate or you may be eligible for a visa-waiver upon arrival. This is valid for 30-days if you arrive by air but only 15 days if you arrive by land.

Indonesia Visa FAQ

The two most popular visas for Indonesia with foreign tourists are the 30-day visa on arrival and the tourist visa.

Visa on arrival
Over 60 nationalities are eligible for visa on arrival which is good for 30-days, costs US$25 (payable on arrival) and, in some cases, can be extended for a second 30 days for an additional $25, or via an agent (which should cost 500,000 - 600,000 rupiah depending on the agent).

The visa on arrival is available at most popular international airports (for example, Jakarta, Bali, Medan, Padang, Palembang, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Mataram and Kupang) and also at many seaports which accept international visitors.
The Tourist Visa for Laos can be issued at most entry points or via a travel agency or Lao consulate. The visa should cost around US$30 -- though this may vary a little depending on your nationality.

Visa on arrival is reliably available at most overland crossings between Thailand, Laos and Cambodia, including the Huay Xai, Vientiane , Savannakhet, Tha Khaek and Chong Mek entry points. It is also available at both Vientiane and Luang Prabang airports (US$30 - cash only, one passport photo). Visa on arrival is not available at the Paksan crossing.

If you get your visa beforehand from a Lao embassy it should be valid for 30 days. ALL visas on arrival are now valid for 30 days. Be wary of being stamped in for 15 days on a 30 day ...

I will first arrive in Singapore on Jan 30th and be flying out to Kota Kinabalu the next day, so there is no issue with obtaining entry for this short time.
I hope someone can give me some advice...

I will arrive in Thailand on Jan. 10th. I have a yoga training in Thailand from Feb. 8th until April 9th and don't have a 60 day visa for my school. I need a total of 90, at least, in Thailand. I have discovered I can go to Vientiane Laos and obtain a 60day from the Thai Embassy. Does this service really take one day?
I'm wondering when should i go to Vientiane and get my visa??? Does the 60day visa start when I receive it in Laos? Or immediately when I enter back into Thailand?
Can I go to Laos first and apply for my 60 day and request when the 60days start and receive a 15 day when I go back into the country in order to make it down to south Thailand before my school?
Or do i need to go to ...
