MSR Packtowl UltraLite

Stuff you may find useful

At Travelfish we're big advocates of the "Travel Light" philosophy and things don't get much lighter than the MSR Packtowl UltraLite. Sure the fluffy Egyptian cotton bath towels you have at home are the best thing about having a shower, but lug one around in a backpack for a few weeks and it will look, feel, weigh, and most importantly smell, like a big wet, dirty dog. Leave the prize linens at home and go for a Packtowl UltraLite instead.

Image of the MSR Packtowl UltraLiteDrying yourself off with the Packtowl UltraLite is a bit like wiping yourself down with a car chamois. It is super absorbant, so at the end of the shower, just give it a soak in cold water and then wring it out -- and that's it, it's dry and ready to be packed again. This is particularly noteworthy in Asia's humid environment, where traditional towels can take forever to dry, especially when they're stuffed in the bottom of a backpack.

Of course, this isn't a complete substitute for a fluffy towel -- while it comes in a few sizes, none are big enough to use as a beach towel, but that's what sarongs are for, and who wants to lie on a chamois anyway?

The Packtowl comes in a range of sizes (small, medium, large and extra large), two colours (green and blue) and weighs in at under 90 grams (3.1 ounces to be exact).
