Ao Kaw Kwang
Travel Guide
Usually overlooked by travellers heading straight for its far busier neighbour Khlong Dao, the tiny bay of Ao Kaw Kwang on the northern tip of Ko Lanta is nowadays growing in popularity.
The bay now boasts three hotels — one of them five-star — and has a pleasant beach with clean but not overly soft sand. Almost always a quieter strip of sand than nearby Khlong Dao, this is a reasonable option for those seeking a bit of solace without heading to the southern tip of the island.
On one side of the bay it's possible to walk down towards Khlong Dao along the narrow strip of beach. Over the road on this isthmus are views of the sea and several trees sticking out from the water.
The three resorts here are close together and range from fan rooms to mega-expensive pads with private pools. Each resort has its own restaurant, but for any kind of nightlife, you'll need to get down to Khlong Dao.
To reach Ao Kaw Kwang, turn off the main road in Khlong Dao near the Twin Lotus sign and follow this road for about 2km. Khlong Dao will be your closest point of call for most tourist services.
