The small town of La Ngu marks the junction of Route 416 and the road to the Pakbara pier. Most people stop here for a little while as they wait for their songtheaws to coordinate -- La Ngu has just about nothing of interest in its own right.

Anything you might need can be found near the 7-eleven -- there's a pharmacy, mini-mart, ATM, and food stalls serving rice dishes, fried noodles, and grilled chicken.

Importantly, La-Ngu has the closest bank to the offshore islands and will exchange travellers cheques and give cash advances. This small town also has a hospital T:(074) 78 1590-2, police station T:(074) 78 1110, post office, and a bustling market where you can stock up on cheap food if you're planning to spend a while on the islands.

A songtheaw or mini-van from Satun to La-Ngu costs 40B and takes about one hour. Wave one down at they head north on Satun Thanee Road, and ask them to drop you at the songtheaw station for Pakbara. From La-Ngu it takes about 15 minutes to reach Pakbara wharf. Songtheaws charge 20B and motocycle taxis 60B. From La-Ngu, the mini-van stop back to Satun is marked with an English sign near the 7-11.
