Vinh Yen is the capital of Vinh Phuc province. As such it is the seat for a large number of governmental bodies, all of which seem to have sprawling offices located about the city. The streets are inordinately wide dual lane avenues and a quick trip around them gives you a decent rundown on what is popular in governmental architecture.

A lovely lake here dominates the town. About it on either side you can find a cluster of sugar cane juice sellers and basic cafes with plastic tables and chairs under umbrellas. Most of the town seem to take in a drink here. An amphitheatre overlooks the lake as well as a large indoor stadium built for 2005's SEA games.
