Trang province
Lying along the Andaman coast, Trang province features similar coastline to spectacular Krabi and also features numerous stunning islands that sun-seekers adore. The mountainous eastern region is home to dramatic waterfalls and caves, as well as some of the most pristine jungle in southern Thailand. Between the mountains and the coast lie extensive plantations of rubber, which was first introduced to Thailand here in the late 1800s.
The eponymous provincial capital is a centuries-old seaport, and echoes of a lingering history can be seen in some of the old coffee-houses.
As the islands in Krabi province to the north have become more and more popular, the islands of Trang province have developed into an ideal alternative destination for those who want an genuine island getaway but don't want to share it with 10,000 others.
