Quang Ngai province
This small province borders Kon Tum to the west, Da Nang to the north, Binh Dinh to the south and the South China Sea to the east and marks the transitionpoint between south-central and central Vietnam.
The provincial capital, Quang Ngai is a nondescript small town -- with absolutely no attractions of its own. It is however, the jumping off point for the village of Son My which was the site of the My Lai massacre which took place during the Vietnam War. If you've the time, a visit to this site comes very highly recommended.
There's also a couple of reasonable beaches -- My Khe, close to Son My, and Sa Huynh, down near the southern border with Binh Dinh. Nevertheless, most travellers skip through, stopping by only for a visit to Son My.
