What we say:

A great way to immerse oneself in the culture of Ubud is to attend one of the many dance performances that take place every night of the week around town.

The most popular dance performance is held in the Ubud Palace and is usually in the Legong and/or Barong styles. These are stunning performances that are well-enough lit that it's possible to take photographs without a flash.

Some other dance performances are located outside of town and transport to and from these locations is included in the entry fee.

The process for buying a ticket is quite simple. Around the intersection of Monkey Forest Road and Jalan Raya Ubud from about 17:00 ticket sellers tout for business and you'll be able to ask about the styles of dance performances available on that night and buy your ticket on the spot.

A full schedule of dance performances can be found in the large building on the western corner of Jalan Raya Ubud and Monkey Forest Road.
