What we say:
This is Luang Prabang's oldest permanent market and until the city gets its first proper mall, Dara Market is the place to shop for anything that isn't a handicraft or souvenir.
You'll unearth lots of modern goods like mobile phones, DVDs, jeans and brand name (although possibly knock-off) sneakers, but also hardware shops, dried goods and everything else under the sun.
If you plan to go trekking you can pick up essential equipment like a torch, backpack, boots or cookware. The location is quite central and it's worth stopping by to browse through the odds and ends.
