Muzium Kelantan (Kelantan State Museum)

Should be at the top of your list

No pic at the moment -- Sorry!

What we say: 4.5 stars

Prior to renovations in 1990, the Kelantan State Museum was the Kota Bharu Town Council offices.

Today this is the go-to place to learn about the history of Kelantan, from its historic places to the arrival of Islam and the royal lineage of its rulers.

Exhibits include displays of various local leisure activities such as mak yong, gasing and wayang kulit. If pressed for time, this museum covers a lot of territory in one convenient location and should be at the top of your list.

Muzium Kelantan is actually located relatively close to the central bus station and could be a quick stop if you find yourself with a lengthy long-distance bus wait.

Vanessa eventually based herself in Langkawi and settled into the island lifestyle. The location offered a gateway to Southeast Asia, from where she continues her exploration of Malaysia, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, Hong Kong and other destinations on her 'to-do' list.
