Han Jiang Teochew Ancestral Temple
Worth popping in
What we say:
Originally known as Teochew Kongsi, the Han Jiang Teochew Ancestral Temple dates back to 1870 and has seen several restoration projects, one in 1936 then again in the 1980s. The most recent one, costing 1.5m ringgit, won a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Conservation award. The immaculately restored temple actually looks new and it appears unused for worship. Information about the site's history and restoration projects is displayed on visitor boards and it's worth popping your head in if you are passing by.
