Penang Hill
fabulous views
What we say:
From the 821m-high summit at Penang Hill, or Bukit Bendera, you can enjoy fantastic views over Georgetown and soak up the cooler mountain air, just like the British did when they set up Peninsula Malaysia's first hill station here. Weekends and peak holiday seasons in May and June can be very, very busy.
The hilltop is awash with tourists, souvenir shops and so on, so escape this by setting a course for the Bellevue Hotel, where you can enjoy afternoon tea in the old hotel's flower garden. Stay late and watch the city lights wink on as the sun sets. Another option is to explore the walking trails that crisscross the hill. A good guidebook on the many trails is Nature Trails of Penang Island.
