Walking street: Kampong Glam
Historically Singapore's Malay-Muslim neighbourhoo
What we say:
Also known as Arab Street for the main road running through it, Kampong Glam is historically Singapore's Malay-Muslim neighbourhood.
The streets are lined with palm trees and two-storey shophouses selling Middle Eastern carpets, traditional clothing and various knick-knacks.
The call to prayer sounds out from majestic Sultan Mosque and Bussorah Road opposite it has become a pedestrian area with cafes and a souvenir market.
Zam Zam Cafe has been around for more than a century and is a great spot for people watching over a cup of teh tarik and roti prate.
Have your say
