Walking street: Haji Lane
Singapore's narrowest street
What we say:
Nestled between busy North Bridge and Ophir Roads you'll find Haji Lane, Singapore's fashionista haven.
Also Singapore's narrowest street (well lane) Haji has a distinctively bohemian feel with street art, tattoo parlours and independent shops selling jewellery, books and clothes from local designers.
Head east along the lane, which is only a few hundred metres long, and pop into any of the streetfront shops that appeal. But remember too to keep an eye out for wooden staircases heading up to mysterious first-floor shops.
Along the length of Haji Lane, quirky cafes morph into mellow watering holes after the sun goes down and, as an alternative to alcohol, some like Blue Jaz offer Middle Eastern hookahs with flavoured tobacco.
