Malay Heritage Centre
Once the palace of Malaysian royalty
What we say:
Also known as Istana Kampong Glam, this elegant building was once the palace of Malaysian royalty.
Of course the Malaysian royalty have long left Singapore's shores (though some probably own luxurious residences in Singapore) and the city-state hasn't had a Sultan since the 1800s.
The building was converted to a centre for preserving traditional Malaysian culture and was officially opened in June 2005.
The centre is currently closed for renovations and, if all going according to schedule, a planned reopening will take place in June 2012.
Have your say
