Walking street: Tanjong Pagar
Check out the shophouses
What we say:
Straddling the space between Chinatown and the central business district, Tanjong Pagar was designated a conservation zone for its three-storey shophouses.
Check out their ornate shuttered windows and rear spiral staircases as you stroll down Craig Road, Neil Road and Duxton Hill, an area notorious in the 1800s for its brothels and opium dens.
In more recent years the neighbourhood has come into fashion and shophouses have been converted into offices, expensive retail, restaurants and boutique hotels.
