Walking street: Temple Street

What we say:
An exemplary example of Singapore's multiculturalism, this one-way street in the heart of Chinatown is named for its Indian temple.
Sri Mariamman is the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore — its roots can be traced back to 1827 — and you can navigate your way there by looking for its ornately carved roof.
It may not be very long, but Temple Street is lined with pretty buildings and interesting spots like traditional Chinese medicine stores, karaoke joints and cheap massage parlours to soothe those aching feet.
