Pulau Ubin

A world away

Photo of , , East Singapore

What we say: 4 stars

It's just a five-minute bumboat ride away, but Pulau Ubin's rocky beaches and mangrove forests feel the proverbial world away from the city.

The island is a refuge for nature lovers and nature itself with hornbills, wild boars, pythons, monkeys, civet cats and thousands of unique aquatic creatures at Chek Jawa wetlands. Most visitors get around the island by bicycle which can be rented at shops near the jetty.

Pulau Ubin is free of shopping malls and high-rises (for now), but you'll find seafood restaurants, public bathrooms, a visitors centre, a small fishing village and Celestial Resort if you want to spend the night.
