Bukit Timah Nature Reserve
A great place to escape the urban jungle
What we say:
A few acres short of being the world's largest rainforest reserve within a city, Bukit Timah is a great place to escape the urban jungle.
The tropical trees are nearly as tall as the bukit (the highest hill in Singapore) and hiking trails range from so-easy-there're-stairs to worthy-of-packing-supplies. If you stray away from the trails used by joggers you'll spot massive insects, colourful birds, lizards and lion-tailed macaques.
Don't feed the monkeys! There's a hefty fine if you're caught.
Maps and drinking water are available at the visitors centre.
