Peranakan Museum
Comprehensive and interesting
What we say:
Learn more about Singapore's unique Peranakan community — the new culture that was created when early traders from China and India married local Malay women — at this downtown museum.
This museum is far more comprehensive than similar ones in Malaysia and the 10 galleries cover every topic from their fusion of religions to elaborate wedding costumes to traditional Peranakan recipes complete with a model kitchen.
The museum regularly hosts Peranakan dance and theatre performances as well.
The Peranakan Museum is partners with the Asian Civilizations Museum and you can buy a combination ticket for admission to both.
