Suan Rot Fai

An unexpected patch of green

No pic at the moment -- Sorry!

What we say: 4 stars

Not to be confused with nearby Rot Fai antique market, Suan Rot Fai (officially named Wachirabenchathat Park) is a relatively large recreation area in Bangkok’s northern reaches.

The park is filled with grassy fields, trees and even a small lake. It was once a golf course before being converted into a park, and it’s still possible to let off some steam at a driving range (50 golf balls for 80 baht). A leafy three-kilometre track fills up with joggers in the mornings and early evenings, and you can also rent kayaks or paddle boats at the north of the lake for 40 baht, or bicycles for 20 baht at the entrance.

Of course, a romantic stroll with a picnic basket is always a favourite activity, and Suan Rot Fai is a great place to find some breathing room after shopping in crowded Chatuchak market, which is a 20-minute walk away.

Kampheng Phet Road 3, Bangkok
Opening Hours: Daily 05:00-21:00
How to get there: Suan Rot Fai is located on Kampheng Phet Road 3 about a 20-minute walk from Chatuchak Market. While taxi is the most direct route, the park can also be reached by taking the BTS to Mo Chit or the MRT to Chatuchak Park. From there walk through Chatuchak Park (also pleasant!) and Suan Rot Fai will be on your left.
