Phlaeng Faifa Fort

A piece of Thai history

No pic at the moment -- Sorry!

What we say: 2.5 stars

Just south of Phra Phradaeng town, this riverside fort was constructed around the same time as Wat Song Thum in the early 1800s in an effort to sure up the protections of the new capital at Bangkok.

All that remains today are a few crumbling stone structures and canons, but a pleasant park has been built around the ruins.

While perhaps not worth going out of your way for unless you're a serious history buff, the fort is worth a peek and the park is a good spot for a picnic if spending an afternoon in Phra Phradaeng town.
