Thailand is all about lounging on sunny beaches and forgetting all about those icy winters back home, right? Wrong.
Anything goes in eclectic Bangkok, and ice skating is a popular pastime among Thai teenagers. When it's 40 degrees in the shade and the roads are literally melting under your shoes, don't be surprised if you want to join them.
250 baht including skate rental gets you 90 minutes at Central World's ice rink to perfect that triple lutz; or to fall flat on your face over and over again. Don't worry; if that's the case an unflappably polite group of teenaged ice-skaters will be sure to help you up, after they mock, point and laugh at you.
They have large skate sizes for big-footed foreigners.
