Chatuchak Market

Not as good as Bangkok's but not too shabby

What we say:

A relatively new development next to the Robinson Shopping Centre east of the river in Chanthaburi, the so-called Chatuchak Market is worth an hour or two if needing to satisfy a shopping fix.

The roofed market was set up in the spirit of Bangkok's famous weekend market, and while it doesn't come anywhere near the real thing in size and scope, it does boast some similarly trendy fashion stalls and odd souvenirs.

The belly of the market also hosts several local-style food vendors, and this is an easy place to sample durian and other tropical fruits grown in the region.

It's not a bad market, but unless you're going to miss the far better shopping experiences of Bangkok or Chiang Mai, or are staying at nearby Rachan Residence, it's probably not worth going out of your way for.

Open nightly from 17:00 to 21:00.
