While diving gets all the attention, snorkelling is also very popular on Ko Lanta, which also makes a great base for exploring the other nearby islands teeming with colourful marine life.

The four closest islands that feature on most snorkelling trips from Lanta are Ko Ngai, Ko Mook, Ko Chuek and Ko Kradan.

The islands make for a popular daytrip as the snorkelling straight off Lanta’s beaches can be a bit lacklustre.

Prices start at about 1,500 baht for all four islands or 1,000 baht for a tour of nearby Phi Phi snorkelling sites. Trips will often include lunch and drinks.
