Wipeout at Lake Hut

Wacky water wipeout course

Photo of Wipeout at Lake Hut, , Ko Pha Ngan

What we say: 3.5 stars

The course includes a rope swing, monkey bars, padded tubular rollers that spin as you run over them, a huge blow-up “iceberg” that you can climb up and jump off, and finally, three huge red balls that are a fair distance from one another and must be traversed to finish the course. (Hint: when you encounter the red balls, let your inner frog take over.) Wipeout also has a new toy called the blob -- we'll let you wait and see what that's all about for yourself.

Overlooking the course stands Lake Hut, a two-tiered open-air thatched roof structure where you can enjoy tasty Thai and Western food to go with wine, beer, cocktails, smoothies and soft drinks. There's nothing like sitting back with a cold one as you watch your sweetie face-plant into the tubular rollers and then belly-flop into the lake. Though injuries are very uncommon, strong-swimming British owner Gregg acts as lifeguard. If seeking a more peaceful activity, rent one of Lake Hut's kayaks for an hour's exploration of picturesque Laem Son Lake.
