What we say:

This spacious and colourful farm/petting zoo occupies 20 acres of tropical forest atop Khao Pom mountain, some 600 metres above Lipa Noi.

Adults will appreciate the cooler air and spectacular views over Samui's west coast and the Five Islands, while kids will be engrossed by the furry and feathery friends.

An aviary is home to multi-coloured doves and parrots that are versed in both Thai and English. Visitors can walk right inside and feed veggies to the cheeky birds, but be warned they aren't shy and will sit right on your head, shoulders and arms while squawking -- it can be traumatising for young kids!

The deer, goats and rabbits in the petting zoo are less intimidating, as is Coca the monkey, who loves to grab guinea pigs out of their pen and then cuddle and brush them.

The farm also boasts a restaurant with Thai and Western standards and an infinity pool to cool off in -- both have great views.

How to get there: From the ring road, take the turn off at Ban Saket and travel along a rather hairy road for several kilometres. Be careful that you donâ€™t take a wrong turn up top and end up in the military base.
