The market and main streets of Ban Lung are lined with gem stores offering a dazzling array of colourful precious stones from the surrounding hills and, unexpectedly, from far flung places such as Sri Lanka. You really need to know your stuff to pick up a bargain, but browsing is fun.

Reclining Buddha

Just west of town, within walking distance, is Phnom Svay, where there is an active wat with a small, reclining Buddha in the rear. It has a panoramic view of Ban Lung and provides good sunset watching. For those with time on their hands.
