Wat Khuhaphimuk (Wat Na Tham) - If you have a few spare hours

Description
This is one of the most important and most revered sites in Southern Thailand. Wat Na Tham means 'A temple in front of a cave' and that is more or less what it is. The cave contains an ancient reclining Buddha almost 30m long and the site is believed to have been established in the year 757. The cave also contains some poor stalactites and in 1986 was incredibly voted the most beautiful 'natural' tourist attraction in the far southern provinces. While not the most amazing wat in Thailand, if you've got a couple of free hours, (say while waiting for a train) it is worth visiting.


How to get there: The wat is around 8km from Yala. To get there, hop on a Hat Yai bound bus (10B)and ask the driver to drop you off at the wat. It is a 700m walk from the junstion to the wat. You can charter a songtheaw from out the front of the train station to the wat for 200B.
