Getting There and Away

Bus

To get to Lak Xao from Tha Khaek, head to the 3km market in the morning and hook up with a tuk-tuk heading there. Songthaews are also available from Na Hin and Nakai.

The main bus station for Lak Xao is along Route 8, 100m east of Lak Xao's main intersection. Sample destinations and fares include:

Vientiane: Departs: 05:00, 06:30, 08:00. Costs: 60,000 kip.
Paksan: Departs: 11:00, 13:00, 12:30, 13:00. Costs: 50,000 kip.
Pak Kading: Departs: 13:30, 14:00. Costs: 40,000 kip.
Tha Khaek: Departs: 07:30. Costs: 50,000 kip.
Ban Nape: Departs: 08:30. Costs: 10,000 kip.
Nam Phao Border (Vietnam): Departs: 12:30, 13:00, 13:30, 14:00. Costs: 40,000 kip.
