Beaches And Islands Of Melaka

Getting there and away

For Pulau Besar, regular ferries to the island depart from the Anjung Batu Jetty about 10 kilometres south of Melaka. Round-trip fare is 14 ringgit for adults and 10 ringgit for children, and the journey takes about 15 minutes.

A taxi to the jetty should cost 30 ringgit, or you can take the bus departing from Bay #15 at Melaka Sentral toward the town of Muar. Ask the bus driver to let you off at Anjung Batu (2.50 ringgit, about 30 minutes) and then it's a 10-minute walk to the jetty.

The jetty has a shady seating area, washrooms and a shop selling drinks and snacks.

Alternatively, speedboats can be chartered from the Umbai Jetty. It should cost about 100 ringgit round-trip for a boat that can carry up to 12 people. The employees of the foodstalls and hotel on Pulau Besar often use this service, so you'll likely find people to share with.
