Getting Around

All the beaches on Ko Pha Ngan's west coast are best reached by songtheaw or hired motorbike and not surprisingly, the best time to catch the songtheaws is when the ferries arrive or depart. Outside of ferry arrival and departures, you may need to bargain hard or rustle up a few bodies to make the fare more reasonable.

Estimated rates are as follows (all fares are per person, ex-Thong Sala):
Mae Haad: 100-150B
Haad Salad: 100B
Haad Yao: 80-100B
Ao Chaophao: 80-100B
Ao Seethanu: 80-100B
Ao Plaaylaem: 30-50B
Ao Wok Tum: 50B

Some beaches have regular songtheaws to Thong Sala at set times daily -- avail yourself of those to get a more reasonable fare into town. Sample times are as follows:
Mae Haad: 10:00 daily.
Haad Yao: Taxis depart Long Beach Resort at 09:30 and 11:00 daily. Sea Board also has a 09:30 departure, High Life leaves at 10:00 and Sandy Bay leaves at 09:45.
