Getting there and away
Bus
There is no direct bus to Tam Dao however buses to Vinh Yen leave Hanoi from Gia Lam bus depot and cost 7,000 dong. Motorbike taxis to Tam Dao cost $8 whilst taxis are $20. Tours can also be organised from tour agencies in Hanoi however it will need to be done as a private tour with a car for around $56.
A motorbike ride to Tam Dao will take up to three hours and covers 90km. Leaving from Hanoi, head out towards Noi Bai airport and turn left towards Vinh Phuc and Vinh Yen just after passing the toll booths. From Vinh Yen turn right up to Tam Dao and follow the road. Vinh Phuc, Vinh Yen and Tam Dao are all well signposted with distances clearly marked.
